Review - Bird Box by Josh Malerman

Bird Box - Josh Malerman

It took a bit of time to get used to the writing style with this one but once I'd warmed to it I couldn't imagine it done any other way.  It's very well done.  I'm still trying to work out why the title was picked though. I understand what it's in reference to but still don't know why it was chosen, doesn't really make much sense to me. Oh well, it is what it is...

I suppose it's an apocalypse story, an end to our world, it's very, very frustrating to not know what's causing the apocalypse though.  That is the feeling I'm left with after reading it - Frustration.  I really liked it but it's more of a psychological horror and I like to know what I'm up against.

It's a very quick read at less than 300 pages but a lot seems to be packed in.  It's chilling and harrowing and unimaginable and I'd recommend it but I felt it needed a better closure.  Unless there is to be a follow on book?  Is there?
